Learn to engage targets while on the move (dynamic firing line). IPSC style competition with digital scoring. Multiple ranges for use, including jungle lanes.

Attendees use a "Range Card" to participate. Available for purchase online, or at HG2 (day of the shoot).

Safety briefing starts at 1130L (OCT - FEB), and at 1230L (MAR - SEP), unless indicated otherwise on the calendar.

Required Equipment:

Holster Qualification
**Holster qual is required if using a holster. PCC does not require a holster qual.**
If you do not possess a Holster qual but would like to participate, we will modify the start position for you.
Minimum 9mm caliber handgun.
Minimum 3 magazines, preferably 4 or more.
Gun belt & holster (sturdy belt).
Mag pouches.
Usual shoot is 4 stages, between 80-150 rounds total (roughly 30 per stage).

Optional Equipment:

PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine). Optional if you wish to shoot IPSC PCC stages.

Sling for rifle (one or two point).
Gun belt & holster for handgun (sturdy belt).
Mag pouches (both rifle and handgun pouches).
Extra magazines (both rifle and handgun; 3-5 of each are recommended).

0800 - Range opens for set-up (closed for regular activities).
1100 - Brief greeting by the President.
1115 - Walk through with demos commences, working from west to east on the lease as follows:

- Cowboy Action (HG4)
- Dynamic Handgun/IPSC (HG2)
- Dynamic Handgun PCC / IPSC PCC (HG2)
- Handgun (HG1)
- Rimfire (MPR2)
- Dynamic Rifle/3 gun (MPR1)

You are not required to do the full walk through but it is recommended. If you have no interest in a certain demo, simply wait at the next discipline in the rotation that does interest you.

1330(ish) - 1600 - Participation ranges available for everyone to try out the following disciplines:

- Trap (MPR3)
- Static Cowboy Action (HG4)
- Static IPSC (HG2)
- Static IPSC PCC (HG2)
- Handgun (HG1)
- Rimfire (MPR2)

1600 - Ranges close, ALL FIREARMS secured and range clean up.

Course Information
Project Mapleseed is an apolitical rifle marksmanship training program that focuses on teaching traditional rifle marksmanship from standing, sitting/kneeling, and prone positions in a one day shooting clinic termed a "Mapleseed". It is a non-profit, all volunteer run organization committed to helping Canadians develop fundamental marksmanship skills, and in the safe handling of firearms.

Project Mapleseed is open to shooters of all ages. The minimum you need is a rimfire rifle, 400 rounds of ammunition and a teachable attitude. Mapleseed is open to all sight types including scopes. The .22LR semi-automatic, magazine-fed rifles are the most commonly seen for their ease of use during the mandatory magazine changes and low ammo cost. Bring what you have; the shooting fundamentals taught apply to the shooter, not their rifle. The goal is to learn and have fun.

**Please Note: Minor participants must be accompanied by their parent/guardian for the duration of the event. The parent/guardian, however, does not need to register/pay unless they are also shooting.

A Mapleseed event is designed to provide structured and safe rifle fundamentals to hunters and shooters of all ages and provides a solid framework of basic rifleman skills that benefits new and experienced shooters alike. For the new shooter we can teach you to use your rifle safely and also be able to hit your target. For the seasoned shooter we can teach you to shoot more accurately - even out to 500 yards.

The ultimate goal of a "Mapleseed" is to teach students to maintain a 4 minutes of angle (MOA) precision and accuracy, This translates into being able to put all shots into a 20 inch target at 500 yards. Qualification targets are shot to evaluate progress and for score. The goal is to score 210 points or better on a 40-shot course that has 250 possible points. This earns the coveted Rifleman’s Patch and is roughly equivalent to scoring Marksman (85%) as member of the infantry in the Canadian Armed Forces.

What to bring:

Special:

All personnel (spectators included) must have a red light source in their possession:
Shooters red light headlamp is mandatory - as both hands are required to operate the gun safely;
Spectators any red Light source will do (hand held etc);
Tracer rounds are allowed;
Organized discipline shooters: can participate in more than one discipline, but must also participate in those disciplines during daylight shoot in order to be eligible for LLS;

BBQ - following the LLS:

Bring your own protein for the BBQ.
Bring your own adult beverage of choice - alcohol is permitted once the Chief RSO has closed the Lease for live fire for the day;

This will be a challenging event to experience Low Light Shooting. Hopefully the BBQ following will be an event full of fun, laughter and a memory-making-social-get-together experience.
